El propósito de la mente consciente es protegerte en todo momento. Cuando experimentamos un evento traumático, la mente consciente almacena ese evento en el subconsciente. Es aquí donde se crea una asociación. Por ejemplo, si el evento traumático tuvo que ver con un perro grande que quería morderte cuando eras pequeño, entonces la asociación podría ser "todos los perros grandes muerden".

Cada vez que ve un perro grande, no importa si somos adultos ahora, nuestra mente subconsciente nos hará reaccionar de la misma manera en que reaccionamos cuando éramos pequeños. Esto se debe a la asociación en nuestro subconsciente, que no comprende el tiempo (pasado, presente del futuro)

The root cause can be found in an event in this life or it could very well have originated in a past life. Once we deal with that event or repressed emotion, the symptom will just disappear.

Addiction builds up over time with certain predispositions and certain behaviors. Environment and childhood experiences can make certain people more prone to addictions that others. Whether a person is addicted to food, alcohol, drugs, smoking or gambling, hypnosis can help finding the root cause of that addiction. The addiction is just the distractor our mind uses to avoid dealing the emotion or event that generated it.
